About the Airtac ACED Double-acting Compact Cylinder ACED40X30S
A double acting compact actuator built to ISO 21287, the ACED40X30S pushes a 40 mm bore through a 30 mm stroke with a rod leaving BOTH covers, so thrust is identical on the extend and return stroke: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa either way. The hard-anodized aluminium body with a hard-chrome plated S45C rod runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof tested to 1.5 MPa (215 psi).
Because the body is roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder of the same bore, it slots into tight pick-and-place gantries and fixture plates where a full-length body cannot. The through-rod resists rotation and carries a symmetric mount, and the rear rod end is a handy spot for a sensor flag. Fixed TPU bumpers absorb end-of-stroke shock at both covers, speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and this -S model carries the magnet so CMSE / DMSE switches read position directly. At 0.5 MPa the rod-side force equals about 58 kgf, so plan on lifting roughly 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
