About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X40SB
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD40X40SB pushes and pulls with the same 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa (800.5 N at 0.7 MPa) because each stroke works on the rod-side area. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag, while fixed TPU bumpers decelerate both ends. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) of clean, 40 um filtered air.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 class short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight welding jigs and gantry clamps. At 0.5 MPa plan on roughly 343 N of usable work, which lifts about 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED40X40, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

For a 40 mm bore job needing equal force both ways, this unit delivers 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa in either direction; step down to ACPD32 (345.6 N) for lighter clamps or up to ACPD50 (881.2 N) for heavier presses. It does not hold position if air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check for a suspended load. The B code gives a male M8x1.25 rod thread, the S code fits the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Replacement: ACED40X40.
