About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X90
This 80 mm bore unit is double acting with a rod leaving both covers, so the 2356.2 N output at 0.5 MPa is identical on every stroke - both faces see the rod-side area. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and lets the rear rod carry a sensor flag. Stroke is 90 mm, well inside the 300 mm standard limit for this bore, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
The short ISO 21287 body cuts mounting length by roughly half versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight presses and gantries. At 0.5 MPa the rod-side force equals about 240 kgf; plan on roughly 1414 N of real work, which lifts about 120 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACED80X90, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Equal force both ways and a 90 mm stroke suit a pusher that must shift cartons left or right on a packaging line at up to 500 mm/s.
Gantry flag carrier
The rear rod carries a position flag for CMSE or DMSE switches (when the -S magnet is ordered), tracking slide position on a pick-and-place gantry.
Replacing the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X90 with the ACED80X90
Size both ways: a 63 mm bore gives 1458.1 N at 0.5 MPa if your load is lighter, while a 100 mm bore reaches 3681.6 N when you need more. Both directions deliver the same rod-side force, so no derating for the return stroke. A plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check if the load must stay put. Mounting brackets (FA/FB flange, LB foot, CA/CB clevis and more) bolt to the ISO 21287 face; the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches, and this code has none fitted. Replacement: ACED80X90.
