The AirTAC Airtac BSAID Clamp Cylinder BSAID125X25 is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 cylinder with a Ø125mm bore, 25mm stroke and a spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock that holds the rod at ANY position along its travel — with a static holding force of 8600 N.
The AirTAC BSAID125X25 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a double-rod design and a spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock mechanism. It delivers a bidirectional thrust of 5734 N at 0.5 MPa, ensuring equal force in both directions. The integrated enclasp gripper locks the piston rod at any position along its 25 mm travel, providing a robust static holding force of 8600 N. A critical distinction exists between these two metrics: the cylinder thrust moves the load, but the separate clamp holding force secures it statically, meaning you must size the holding capacity against your load weight, not the thrust.
This model features a 32 mm carbon steel rod with an M27x2 thread, providing exceptional rigidity and side-load resistance. The double-rod configuration allows mounting a workpiece on one end and a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the opposite end for dual-side guidance and anti-rotation. The clamp utilizes a third G1/8 enclasp port and requires a balanced 0.15-0.7 MPa air pressure to release safely. Note that the variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke end; the clamp itself is the true holding device.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC BSAI datasheet (ISO 15552). Operating pressure is 0.15–0.7 MPa (lower than a plain SAI). Port options: PT / G.
A spring-applied gripper clamps the rod and holds the load at any position in the stroke — not just at the stroke end (that is a SAIL) — and it is bidirectional: it holds whether the rod was extending or retracting.

| 0.5 MPa | 6136 N | 5734 N |
| 0.7 MPa (max) | 8590 N | — |
Equal force both directions (double rod). Rated to the 0.7 MPa operating maximum for this series. The clamp holding force (8600 N) is separate from cylinder thrust. Size with a margin.
Secures heavy vertical lifting stages at any height along the 25 mm travel, preventing sudden drops during a power loss event.
Holds a dual-sided workpiece or tooling platform rigidly in place against machining forces while utilizing the opposite rod end for anti-rotation guidance.
Maintains a safety barrier or heavy guard in a fixed position without relying on continuous live air pressure, engaging the 8600 N clamp instantly upon stop.
Choose this 125 mm bore when an application demands immense holding capacity (8600 N) and equal bi-directional force (5734 N at 0.5 MPa). If the 8600 N hold exceeds your needs, stepping down to the 100 mm bore reduces the holding force to 5500 N and the pull thrust to 3681 N. Select this BSAID model over a plain SAID when power loss must not result in dropping the load, or over a SAIL unit when you need to lock at any intermediate point rather than just at the stroke end.
Ensure the cylinder has fully stopped before applying the clamp, as it cannot brake a moving rod. Furthermore, unlock the clamp only when pressures on both sides of the piston are balanced to prevent abrupt rod jumping. For safety-critical operations, always add an independent mechanical safety measure. Replacement requires a double-rod, 125 mm bore, 25 mm stroke, PT ported cylinder. The correct mounting set for this double-rod body includes Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 (omitting FB, CA, CB, CR). As a non-magnet variant, it does not support CMSE or DMSE sensors.
Quick checklist
The BSAID125X25 provides a static holding force of 8600 N. Its spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock can engage at any position along the 25 mm stroke, holding the load bidirectionally whether the rod was extending or retracting.
The clamp cannot brake a moving rod; it only locks after the cylinder has completely stopped. To release the lock safely, apply 0.15-0.7 MPa air to the G1/8 enclasp port only after the pressures on both sides of the piston are balanced, preventing abrupt rod jumping. An independent safety measure is required for human safety applications.
