The AirTAC Airtac SAIF Series Standard Cylinder with Valve SAIF40X100-08A is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 cylinder with a Ø40mm bore, 100mm stroke and a built-in 4M210-08 5/2 solenoid valve — it switches itself from one coil signal, so no separate remote valve or extra plumbing is needed.
The AirTAC SAIF40X100-08A is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring an integrated 4M210-08 5/2 solenoid valve. This built-in valve provides a Cv of 0.89 and eliminates the need for remote tubing, saving panel space in decentralized machine layouts. Driven by an AC220V terminal coil consuming 3.5 VA, it responds in 0.05s with an IP65 rating. The manifold connects to the cylinder via PU tubing (O8 x O5), bridging the valve's 1/4" port to the cylinder's 1/4" PT port.
While the bare cylinder rates to 1.0 MPa, the integrated valve limits the practical SAIF operating pressure to 0.15-0.8 MPa. In its factory setting, the rod retracts when the coil is energised, but you can reposition the valve to extend on signal. The 40mm bore generates 628N of push force at 0.5 MPa. Note that the 5/2 valve routes air but does not lock the load; for position holding, consider the SAIL series.

The cylinder rates to 1.0 MPa but the built-in valve operates 0.15–0.8 MPa, so run the assembled SAIF at 0.15–0.8 MPa. Default: rod retracts when the coil is energised (reconfigurable to extend). Specs follow the official AirTAC SAIF datasheet. Port options: PT / G.

Sized within the valve's 0.15–0.8 MPa range. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure.

SAIF does not hold its load without air — the valve routes air, it is not a lock. For load-holding use a SAIL (lock) or BSAI (clamp-lock).
Eliminates remote valve banks by switching locally from a single AC220V signal, drastically reducing pneumatic tubing across large factory layouts.
Fits ISO 15552 mounting interfaces while saving panel space, providing 628N push force exactly where the actuation point is needed.
Ideal for upgrading existing machinery where running new valve tubing is impractical, offering a self-contained 5/2 valve solution.
Select this 40mm bore when you need 628N push force at 0.5 MPa, or step down to the 32mm bore (402N push) for lighter loads. Conversely, step up to the 50mm bore (982N push) if your application requires higher thrust. The self-contained SAIF design excels over a separate cylinder and remote valve when wiring and pneumatic plumbing are costly, as it switches directly from one coil signal.
When ordering a replacement, verify the 100mm stroke, 1/4" valve port, AC220V voltage, terminal electrical entry, and PT thread. The standard carbon steel rod is installed without a magnet; adding an -S magnet enables CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors for position detection.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa operating pressure, the 40mm bore generates 628N of push force and 528N of pull force. The maximum push force is 1130N at 0.9 MPa.
The integrated 5/2 valve is internally piloted and operates on AC220V. By default, the cylinder retracts when the coil is energised, but this can be reconfigured to extend on signal by repositioning the valve.
