The AirTAC Airtac SAIF Series Standard Cylinder with Valve SAIF40X50-08B is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 cylinder with a Ø40mm bore, 50mm stroke and a built-in 4M210-08 5/2 solenoid valve — it switches itself from one coil signal, so no separate remote valve or extra plumbing is needed.
The AirTAC SAIF40X50-08B is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a built-in 4M210-08 5/2 solenoid valve. This integrated manifold design eliminates the need for a remote valve island, drastically reducing panel space and PU tubing runs for decentralized machine stations. Driven by a DC24V terminal entry coil consuming just 3.0 W, it achieves a rapid 0.05 s activation time while maintaining an IP65 rating.
While the extruded aluminum cylinder body is rated for 1.5 MPa proof pressure, the practical operating range for the assembled SAIF unit is 0.15-0.8 MPa due to the internal pilot valve limits. The 40 mm bore generates 628 N of push force and 528 N of pull force at 0.5 MPa. The factory setting retracts the piston rod when the coil is energised, but this behavior can be reconfigured to extend-on-energise simply by repositioning the valve. The manifold connects to the cylinder via an O8 x O5 PU tube, bridging the 1/4" cylinder port and the 1/4" valve port.

SAIF does not hold its load without air — the valve routes air, it is not a lock. For load-holding use a SAIL (lock) or BSAI (clamp-lock).
Eliminates long tubing runs from a central panel by switching locally via the integrated 4M210 valve, reducing cycle response delays on automated assembly lines.
Provides 628 N of push force in a tight footprint, using the 50 mm stroke to rapidly eject machined components without requiring external valve hardware.
Ideal for upgrading older machines where routing new valve tubing is costly, utilizing the DC24V terminal connection for direct electrical control.
Choose this 40 mm bore when an application requires more thrust than the 32 mm variant (402 N push at 0.5 MPa) but lacks the physical envelope for a 50 mm unit (982 N push at 0.5 MPa). The 50 mm stroke is the minimum standard for this series, making it ideal for short clamping or ejecting motions. The DC24V terminal coil offers safe, low-voltage operation and straightforward wiring, avoiding the inrush current characteristics of AC coils.
Because the 4M210 valve routes air directly without mechanically locking the piston, this cylinder cannot hold a load without live air pressure; for positive locking requirements, consider the SAIL series. To replace this unit, match the 40 mm bore, 50 mm stroke, 1/4" PT cylinder and valve ports, DC24V voltage, terminal electrical entry, and standard carbon steel rod. Note that this configuration does not include a magnet for CMSE or DMSE sensors.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa, this 40 mm bore cylinder generates 628 N of push force and 528 N of pull force. The integrated 4M210-08 5/2 valve has an effective flow area of 16.0 mm2 (Cv 0.89) and supports a maximum frequency of 5 cycles per second.
The 5/2 valve is internally piloted and holds its last position via pilot pressure, not a spring, so it requires continuous live air pressure to maintain load. By factory default, the coil retracts the rod when DC24V is applied, but the valve can be repositioned to extend-when-energised.
