Description
The silencer is a noise reduction device designed for airflow pipelines with concurrent noise propagation. It achieves noise attenuation or reflection within the pipeline through components such as acoustically lined ducts, elbow fittings, or sections with abrupt cross-sectional changes and acoustic impedance discontinuities. The former configuration is categorized as a resistive silencer, while the latter functions as a reactive silencer. Hybrid designs combining both principles are classified as impedance-compound silencers.
