This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE16X90S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE16X90S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP16X90S is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE16X90S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and a made-to-order 90 mm stroke, the ACP16X90S pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. Its hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod are built to the DIN-standard short-body format, which saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is produced to order. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACE16X90.
Practically, plan on roughly 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed range 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE16X90S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACE16X90S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm gate open and closed on a packaging machine slide, with 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough for a light plastic shutter.
The short DIN-standard body fits where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot, ejecting finished clips from a nest with about 60 N of usable force.
Lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin at 0.5 MPa, ideal for raising a small sensor bracket or camera head on an inspection gantry.
At 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore sits between the 12 mm (56.5 N) and 20 mm (157.1 N) sizes; step up to 20 mm if your jig needs more margin, or down to 12 mm for lighter gates. The 90 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 16 (75 mm max standard), so order it as a made-to-order length. Choose FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to suit the fixture, and remember the -S magnet on this unit is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch position feedback. For new builds, specify ACE16X90 instead - same bore, stroke and force class - and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8 with an M4x0.7 female rod thread on an 8 mm rod.
Yes. The standard stroke limit for a 16 mm bore is 75 mm, so 90 mm is a made-to-order length that AirTAC produces on request. Be aware the ACP family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACE16X90, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the older DIN-standard body.
