The AirTAC SC series is a bolted tie-rod pneumatic cylinder built for general-purpose factory automation. It is a double-acting design, using air pressure for both extension and retraction. The line spans 10 bores from 32 to 250 mm, with rod diameters scaling from 12 mm up to 50 mm. Standard maximum strokes vary by bore: 1000 mm for bore 32, 1200 mm for bores 40-50, and 1500 mm for bores 63-250. Longer strokes are available as made-to-order.
The shared design features adjustable air cushion at both ends to decelerate the piston near the stroke end. Note that this cushion only decelerates; it does not hold the load when pressure is lost. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (proof pressure 1.5 MPa) over a temperature range of -20 to +70 C. Fluid must be air filtered to 40 um. Speed ranges are 30-800 mm/s for bores 32-100, and 30-500 mm/s for larger bores 125-250. Ports range from PT1/8 to PT1 inch, with PT standard and G optional.
The SC family includes four variants: SC (single rod), SCD (double rod for equal force and anti-rotation), SCJ (adjustable stroke via external limit adjustment), and SCT (multi-position with two pistons for 3-4 preset positions). A key information-gain fact: the SC is a tie-rod cylinder, not an ISO 15552 cylinder. It is physically shorter than an ISO 15552 profile, so it is not a drop-in ISO swap. Only the big bores 125-250 may be described as ISO 6430 class.

How to Choose the Right Model
Select the bore based on your theoretical force requirement: push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 402 N for bore 32 up to 24544 N for bore 250. Maximum theoretical force at 1.0 MPa spans 82 kgf to 5006 kgf. Choose the SCD variant if you need equal force in both directions or anti-rotation, the SCJ for external stroke-limit adjustment, and the SCT for multi-position stops. Add the -S suffix for a built-in magnet to fit reed or solid-state sensors (CMSG/DMSG/EMSG). Confirm these five points when matching: bore size, stroke length, port/thread type, mounting accessory (LB, FA, FB, CA, CB, TC), and the magnet option.
Step out of the SC series if your application requires a specific ISO 15552 profile interface (choose AirTAC SAI or SE series) or if space is highly restricted (choose SDA or ACQ compact cylinders). For heavy side loads, switch to a guided cylinder like the TC guided series or add an external guide. For bores smaller than 32 mm, select AirTAC MI, MAL, or MBL mini cylinders.
