This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE20X50SLB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE20X50SLB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X50SLB is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 50mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE20X50SLB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP20X50SLB is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 50 mm stroke, delivering 157.1 N push and 117.8 N pull at 0.5 MPa (219.9 N / 164.9 N at 0.7 MPa). Air extends and retracts the 10 mm hard-chrome S45C rod, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-travel shock. The M5x0.8 ports suit small-bore air lines, and the LB foot bracket is included in the order code.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs, guarding and gantry slides. Because the -S magnet is fitted in this code, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke sensing. Plan on about 94 N (roughly 9.6 kgf) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, so it lifts about 4.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACE20X50, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE20X50SLB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACE20X50SLB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×50 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
With 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa the 20 mm bore kicks finished caps or connectors off a moulding nest, and the fitted -S magnet signals retraction via a CMSE switch.
The 50 mm stroke diverts bottles between lanes at up to 500 mm/s, while the short body tucks under low guard rails where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
About 94 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa seats microplates or seals foil on diagnostic cartridges, lifting roughly 4.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
At 157.1 N push (0.5 MPa) this 20 mm bore suits light clamping and small part transfer; step down to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) for tighter spaces or up to the 25 mm bore (245.4 N) when the load grows. The 50 mm stroke sits well inside the 100 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a catalogue item, not a made-to-order build. A plain cylinder of this type drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. The LB foot mounting bolts to standard fixtures, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACE20X50 instead, since the ACP line is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 219.9 N push and 164.9 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, on air filtered to 40 um, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s and -20 to +70 C.
The ACP20X50SLB is discontinued and no longer in production. The ACE20X50 is the current drop-in successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 20 mm bore, 50 mm stroke and force class in an ISO 21287 short body with FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis options plus the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, because the ACP was built to the older DIN standard.
