This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE20X70B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE20X70B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X70B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE20X70B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP20X70B is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 70 mm stroke, built on a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome 10 mm piston rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 219.9 N and 164.9 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles on the ISO 21287 face. Air supply is filtered to 40 um, pressure runs 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and rod speed spans 30-500 mm/s.
Its short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs, guarding and gantries. Plan on roughly 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 157.1 N rating, which translates to lifting about 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this unit carries no magnet: the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACP20X70B is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACE20X70, and buyers should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE20X70B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACE20X70B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa seats bearings, bushings and terminals into aluminium housings on electronics assembly benches where the 70 mm stroke matches fixture depth.
Mounted under a conveyor frame, the short body kicks cartons or blisters at 30-500 mm/s without stealing the clearance a full-length cylinder would need.
With about 8 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the male-thread rod drives sample holders and clamp arms on compact test rigs.
Size both ways: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 25 mm bore reaches 245.4 N - choose the 20 mm when your load sits between those bands. The 70 mm stroke sits inside the 100 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a catalogue item, not a made-to-order build. Remember that a plain cylinder drifts when air is lost; add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts to your fixture, order the -S code if CMSE / DMSE sensing is needed, and specify the ACE20X70 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 219.9 N and pulls 164.9 N. The theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and rod speed runs 30-500 mm/s.
No - the ACP family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACE20X70 in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Sensing is possible only when the optional -S magnet is ordered, which then accepts CMSE / DMSE switches; this base code has no magnet fitted.
