This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE25X40 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE25X40 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X40 is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 40mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE25X40 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP25X40 is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 25 mm bore and 40 mm stroke. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N, rising to 343.6 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
For sizing, a practical rule of thumb is to plan for roughly 147 N (about 15 kg of vertical lift) of real work at 0.5 MPa, leaving margin on the 245.4 N rating. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and speeds of 30-500 mm/s. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACE25X40, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE25X40 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 245 N | 206 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 344 N | 289 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 50 kgf | |
The ACE25X40 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×40 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps light aluminium brackets or plastic housings in drill and assembly jigs, and the short body fits between fixture walls.
With about 15 kg of practical vertical capacity, the 40 mm stroke is enough to kick small cartons or blisters off a conveyor lane at cycle rates within 30-500 mm/s.
The compact 25 mm bore body drives sample trays or shutter slides on benchtop test equipment, where the M5x0.8 port keeps tubing runs small.
At 25 mm bore this size sits between the 20 mm (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa) and 32 mm (402.1 N push at 0.5 MPa) options - step up to 32 mm if your load needs more than about 15 kg of usable vertical force. The 40 mm stroke is well within the 150 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. The rod ends in a female M6x1.0 thread and the port is M5x0.8 (PT). This unit has no magnet fitted; if you need CMSE or DMSE switches, order the -S variant instead. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings are available. Since the ACP25X40 is discontinued, order the ACE25X40 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint first.
Replacement checklist
The ACP25X40 is a double acting compact cylinder: 245.4 N push and 206.2 N pull at 0.5 MPa, 343.6 N push and 288.6 N pull at 0.7 MPa, and a theoretical maximum of 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACE25X40 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
It has a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, a female M6x1.0 rod thread and an M5x0.8 port. Sensing requires the optional -S magnet code, which enables CMSE or DMSE switches; the standard ACP25X40 has no magnet fitted. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), -20 to +70 C, speeds 30-500 mm/s.
