This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE32X120B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE32X120B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP32X120B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 120mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE32X120B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP32X120B is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 32 mm bore and 120 mm stroke, driving a 12 mm rod through a male thread (the B code). At 0.5 MPa it pushes 402.1 N and pulls 345.6 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 563 N and 483.8 N. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note this model carries no magnet: the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.
For real-world sizing, treat roughly 0.6 of the push force as usable work at 0.5 MPa, about 241 N, which corresponds to lifting roughly 24 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston; it never holds or brakes a load, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the position must survive a loss of air. The ACP family is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is the ACE32X120 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE32X120B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 402 N | 346 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 563 N | 484 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 82 kgf | |
The ACE32X120B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 32 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 402.1 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps aluminium or small steel workpieces in machining jigs, and the short body fits inside fixture plates where a full-length body would foul the tool path.
With a 120 mm stroke and 30-500 mm/s speed, the cylinder kicks cartons or trays sideways on a conveyor, and the male rod thread accepts a custom pusher plate directly.
Working at about 241 N of usable force, the bore lifts roughly 24 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for sensor brackets, lids or small assemblies on assembly gantries.
At 402.1 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 32 mm bore sits between the 25 mm bore (245.4 N) and the 40 mm bore (628.3 N); step up if your load needs more than about 240 N of working force. The 120 mm stroke is within the 200 mm standard range for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The male rod thread (B) suits rod knuckles and external tooling, while FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face. If you need position feedback, order the -S variant for CMSE / DMSE switches. Buy the ACE32X120 instead: this ACP model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push is 402.1 N and pull is 345.6 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push reaches 563 N and pull 483.8 N, with a theoretical maximum of 82 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a double acting compact cylinder, 32 mm bore, 120 mm stroke, 12 mm male-thread rod, 1/8" PT port, operating on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, at 30-500 mm/s and -20 to +70 C.
Order the ACE32X120, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same bore, stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP was built to the DIN standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The ACE family also covers related variants such as single-acting ASP/ATP, double-rod ACPD and adjustable ACPJ types.
