This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED100X90 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED100X90 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD100X90 is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 90mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED100X90 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD100X90 delivers 3681.6 N in each direction at 0.5 MPa because both strokes work on the rod-side area - there is no stronger push than pull on this through-rod design. The 100 mm bore sits at the top of the ACPD range, and the 90 mm stroke stays well inside the 300 mm standard limit for this bore. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build, so it saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - useful in heavy gantries and press fixtures where every millimetre counts. The 25 mm hard-chrome S45C through-rod resists rotation and side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Note this unit is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED100X90, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a planning figure, the 3681.6 N rating supports about 2210 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 187 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED100X90 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 3682 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 5154 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 751 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 100 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The symmetric 3681.6 N output clamps steel stampings from either side of a welding jig, and the through-rod mount keeps the tooling plate square under side load.
With about 187 kg of vertical-lift equivalent at a 2:1 margin, the 100 mm bore pushes heavy pallets sideways between conveyor lanes at 30-500 mm/s.
A rod on each cover lets the beam be driven and guided from both ends of the stroke, with the rear rod doubling as a mount for a position flag.
At 3681.6 N per side (0.5 MPa), the 100 mm bore is the strongest ACPD option; step down to the 80 mm bore for 2356.2 N if the load is lighter, or move to a larger custom bore only if 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa is still short. The 90 mm stroke is a standard length for this bore. Remember that a plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check if the load must stay put. This version has no magnet fitted; order the -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Since the ACPD is discontinued, specify the ACED100X90 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint.
Replacement checklist
Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is identical in both directions: 3681.6 N at 0.5 MPa and 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a peak of 750.8 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Both strokes use the rod-side area of the 100 mm bore, so there is no push-versus-pull difference. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating.
AirTAC no longer produces the ACPD family. The current-production successor is the ACED100X90 (swap the P for an E), an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. FA/FB flange and LB foot options carry over in the mounting family.
