This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X100-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X100-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X100-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X100-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, this discontinued ACPJ20X100-20SB runs a 20 mm bore over a 100 mm stroke with a 20 mm trim window: a stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site to any setting between 80 and 100 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N, and the male rod thread (B code) plus the fitted -S magnet make it ready for CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight gantries and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Practically, plan for roughly 94 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), which lifts about 9 kg vertically - halve that to about 4-5 kg for a 2:1 margin on a pick-and-place part. Construction is a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, M5x0.8 ports, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operation and 30-500 mm/s speed. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ20X100 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X100-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X100-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 80-100 mm trimmed extend stroke clamps aluminum billets in a machining fixture, with 157.1 N at 0.5 MPa holding the part against a hard stop while the cutter passes.
Mounted alongside a conveyor, the male-thread rod drives a pusher arm that kicks off-spec cartons at up to 500 mm/s, with the -S magnet and a DMSE switch confirming full extend.
A bench-top assembly press uses the 20 mm bore to seat bushings into housings; about 94 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa suits light interference fits on plastic or brass parts.
Size the bore both ways: if 157.1 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push; if you need more, step up to a 25 mm or 32 mm bore class. Note that the stop screw only trims the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet on the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, order the ACEJ20X100 instead - same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa, 219.9 N push and 164.9 N pull; theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke is trimmable from 100 mm down to 80 mm with the stop screw. Ports are M5x0.8, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ20X100 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because ACP is DIN-standard.
