About the Airtac AIRTAC SC125-160 Standard Cylinder SC125X1800S

The AirTAC SC125X1800S is a large-bore, double-acting tie-rod cylinder engineered for long-stroke linear applications requiring substantial force. With a 125 mm bore and an extended 1800 mm stroke, this model delivers a push force of 6136 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 11045 N at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, making it a robust actuator for heavy industrial tasks.

This non-standard stroke cylinder features a 32 mm diameter piston rod with an M27x2 knuckle thread and an adjustable air cushion length of 28 mm to decelerate the high inertia load smoothly. The built-in magnet (denoted by the 'S' suffix) allows for direct mounting of CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG sensors along the barrel for precise, contactless position feedback. Its body length A is 203 mm, and the PT1/2 port connection ensures reliable pneumatic integration.

Where the Airtac AIRTAC SC125-160 Standard Cylinder SC125X1800S Is Used

conveyor_belt

Long-Reach Material Pusher

The 1800 mm stroke and 11045 N force at 0.9 MPa are ideal for pushing heavy pallets or large components off a conveyor line, where a long reach is essential.

precision_manufacturing

Heavy-Duty Clamping System

Provides the high clamping force needed for large weldments or structural assemblies in a jig, with the built-in magnet confirming full extension via a CMSG sensor.

engineering

Industrial Press Feed

Transfers heavy steel sheets or blanks into a stamping press, utilizing the adjustable cushion to manage the high kinetic energy of the load over the 1.8-meter travel.

Is the Airtac AIRTAC SC125-160 Standard Cylinder SC125X1800S the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC125 for applications where the SC100's 3927 N push force at 0.5 MPa is insufficient. For an 1800 mm stroke, external guiding is critical; the long, unsupported 32 mm rod is susceptible to bending and side-load damage. Always use an external guide rail or rod support to ensure the load is carried axially and to prevent premature seal and bearing wear. For replacement, match exactly: 125 mm bore, 1800 mm stroke, PT1/2 port thread, the built-in magnet (-S), and basic mounting.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac AIRTAC SC125-160 Standard Cylinder SC125X1800S FAQ

The theoretical push force at 0.5 MPa is 6136 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, the push force is 11045 N. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa is 1251 kgf.

For any stroke of 300 mm or more, and especially at 1800 mm, you must use an external guide to prevent side loads from bending the 32 mm rod. The cylinder should only handle axial thrust; a misaligned or unguided load will cause the rod to buckle and damage the bearing and seals.
