AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MG series is a JIS-standard double-acting mini air cylinder available in 20-40mm bores, built with a SUS304 stainless steel barrel and fixed bumper pad for compact linear actuation.
inventory_2148 models availableThe AirTAC MG series is a double-acting, JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder designed for compact linear actuation. It spans four bores - 20, 25, 32 and 40mm - generating a push force from roughly 157N up to 628N at 0.5 MPa. The body uses a high-precision SUS304 stainless steel barrel with front and back covers riveted in a rolling-packed construction for a reliable seal.
The piston rod is carbon steel with a 20um hard-chrome plating for wear resistance. A key design feature is the fixed anti-impact bumper pad on the front cover, which softens the direction-change impact at the stroke end. The piston uses a two-way seal that also stores lubricant, meaning oil is not required for operation. Ports are 1/8 inch across all four bores.
For position sensing, buyers can order models with the S option (a built-in magnet) to use with CMSG, DMSG or EMSG reed and solid-state sensors. A model without S cannot take a sensor. The standard stroke reaches up to 500mm (non-standard to 800mm made to order). Note that the bumper pad only decelerates the piston; it does not hold or lock the load.

The compact 20 and 25 bores provide 157N to 245N of push force, ideal for ejecting small molded parts or routing light components on automated machinery.
The fixed anti-impact bumper pad softly decelerates the stroke end, preventing damage to cardboard cartons during high-speed flap folding and sealing operations.
The SUS304 stainless steel barrel and rolling-packed sealed body resist lint and humidity in textile facilities while guiding yarn carriers with reliable double-acting motion.
Size the bore to the force at your working pressure using the 0.5 MPa figures (157N for 20 up to 628N for 40) and keep a margin, planning for roughly 60% of the rating as real work. Then pick the stroke (up to 500mm standard). Decide if you need position sensing by adding S for the magnet. Match the thread standard (PT, G or NPT) to your shop, and pick the mounting: FA flange, LB foot, CB clevis, SDB pivot, or I and Y rod knuckles.
For high speed or heavier moving loads that would hammer the fixed bumper, step out of the MG to the cushioned AirTAC MGC series, which also adds 50 and 63 bores. For one-way spring-return strokes, choose the single-acting MSG (push) or MTG (pull). For equal force both ways or anti-rotation, select the double-rod MGD.
Quick checklist
The MG series includes four bores: 20, 25, 32 and 40mm. At 0.5 MPa, push force ranges from 157N (20) to 628N (40). Pull force is slightly lower, for example 206N for the 25 bore. The maximum standard stroke is 500mm, extendable to 800mm on special order.
The MG is double-acting with a fixed bumper pad. The MGC adds a variable air cushion and larger 50/63 bores for heavier loads. The MSG and MTG are single-acting spring-return cylinders for one-way push or pull strokes. The MGD is a double-rod version providing equal force both ways and anti-rotation.
No. The fixed anti-impact bumper pad only decelerates the piston near the stroke end to soften impact. It is not a brake or lock. The double-acting MG does not hold position on air loss. If load holding is required, you must use an external rod lock or pilot check valve.
Yes, but only if you order the model with the S option, which includes a built-in magnet. Models without S cannot take a sensor. Magnets are compatible with AirTAC CMSG, DMSG and EMSG reed and solid-state switches for end-of-stroke feedback.
