AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC TN series is a double-acting dual-rod cylinder with bores from 10 to 32mm and strokes from 5 to 200mm, built for pusher, clamp and transfer jobs where a single rod would deflect or spin.
inventory_2292 models availableThe AirTAC TN series is a double-acting pneumatic cylinder with two parallel piston rods driving one shared front plate. The twin-rod layout buys three things at once: double the output force for the same bore, resistance to bending and twisting, and the ability to carry a certain lateral load. That is why TN is chosen for pusher, clamp and transfer duties where a single-rod cylinder would deflect or spin. Bores run 10, 16, 20, 25 and 32mm, with strokes from 5 to 100mm in 5mm steps on every bore and up to 200mm on bores 16 to 32.
Ports are M5x0.8 on bores 10 to 25 and PT1/8 on bore 32. The series is built to AirTAC's own enterprise standard; the sibling TR series is the one built to the JIS standard and adds a 6mm bore and an extended sliding-bearing guide. Cushioning comes from an external anti-collision pad at the front of the body, which cushions the impact and also lets you shorten the effective stroke by setting the pad. Every model is magnet-fitted as standard, and a sensor drops into a groove machined around the body without needing a band or bracket.
The embedded-body fixed mounting saves installation space, and the front fixed plate can be rotated for multi-position installation. The fixed plate has mounting holes on three faces (top, front and bottom), and the cylinder body has mounting holes on every face except the axial ends, so a fixture can be bolted on from whichever direction the machine allows.

A short-stroke TN cylinder pushes parts into a nest, and the two rods keep the front plate square under the load instead of letting it twist the way a single-rod pusher can. Bores 16 to 25 with 5 to 50mm strokes suit these compact push positions.
The twin rods hold a clamp plate level across the workpiece, while the anti-collision pad cushions the clamp impact and lets the setter shorten the effective stroke to match the part height.
On pick-and-transfer brackets, TN's ability to carry a certain lateral load keeps the shared front plate steady, and the rotatable fixed plate plus three-face mounting holes let the fixture bolt on from whichever face the machine layout allows.
A bore 32 TN drives a slide where PT1/8 ports and the higher output of the largest bore are needed, with the magnet-fitted piston sending position signals from the groove-mounted sensor back to the machine controller.
Choose the bore for force and the stroke for travel. Remember the twin rods already give double the output force for a given bore, so you can often select a smaller bore than a single-rod choice would suggest. Pick bore 10 where space is very tight, noting its higher 0.2 MPa minimum start pressure and its 100mm stroke ceiling. Pick bore 32 when you need PT1/8 ports instead of M5. Keep the stroke sensible: the front cover and piston are both short, so an over-long stroke is not advisable, and leave force to spare where the working load varies. The ordering code is TN{bore}x{stroke}S - the S magnet code is fixed because every TN is magnet-fitted, with no extra code needed for PT or M5 threads.
Before ordering, confirm five points: bore, stroke, port thread, mounting direction (plate holes on top, front or bottom; body holes on all faces except the axial ends), and whether a sensor is needed - the body groove takes one, but confirm the sensor model from the datasheet. If the job needs a guided rod rather than twin rods, step across to the AirTAC guided cylinder family. If you need the JIS standard, a 6mm bore or an extended sliding-bearing guide, choose the sibling TR series instead.
Quick checklist
Bores are 10, 16, 20, 25 and 32mm. Strokes run from 5 to 100mm in 5mm steps on all bores, plus 125, 150, 175 and 200mm on bores 16 to 32. Bore 10 works at 0.2-1.0 MPa (29-145 psi) and bores 16 to 32 at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), so the 10mm bore needs a higher minimum pressure to start. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s and working temperature is -20 to +70 C with air filtered to 40 um or finer.
Both are double-acting twin-rod cylinders, but they are two separate series. TN is built to AirTAC's enterprise standard with bores from 10 to 32mm. TR is built to the JIS standard and adds a 6mm bore plus an extended sliding-bearing guide. Their specifications are not interchangeable, so quote the TN ordering code when your drawing calls for TN.
Every TN cylinder is magnet-fitted as standard - there is no non-magnetic version - so a magnetic sensor can be added, and a groove machined around the body holds the sensor without a band or bracket. The catalogue does not list which sensor models fit this series, so confirm the compatible sensor part number from the datasheet before ordering.
AirtacDistr is an authorized export seller of genuine AirTAC parts, ordered by the catalogue code such as TN20x50S for a 20mm bore with 50mm stroke. The full bore and stroke range is listed and orderable, with lead time confirmed on request. Force tables, weights and dimensions are not published on this page - confirm them from the datasheet for your exact model.
