AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MBL series is a compact, riveted aluminum-barrel mini round cylinder built for tight machine spaces, offering 20-63 mm bores and a 157-1558 N push force span.
inventory_2405 models availableThe AirTAC MBL series is a double-acting mini round cylinder designed for compact footprint and low weight rather than ISO interchangeability. It uses a riveted rolling-packed aluminum barrel and spans six bores from 20 to 63 mm. Theoretical push force at 0.5 MPa ranges from 157 N on the 20 mm bore up to 1558 N on the 63 mm bore, with a maximum theoretical force of 32 kgf to 318 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
The shared design features a fixed rubber bumper at both ends, a two-way grease-retaining piston seal, and a carbon steel rod with 20 um chrome plating. Standard strokes reach 500 mm, with special orders available up to 800 mm. Ports are G1/8 on 20-32 mm bores and G1/4 on 40-63 mm bores, available in PT, G, or NPT threads. The series operates on 40 um filtered air at 0.15-1.0 MPa and supports speeds of 30-800 mm/s.
Variants expand the line for specific needs: MBLC adds adjustable air cushions, MBLD provides a double rod, MBLJ offers adjustable stroke, and MBLCJ combines both adjustable stroke and cushion. Single-acting versions are MSBL and MTBL. For position sensing, specify the -S magnet option to mount CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG sensors. This series is distinct from the ISO 6432 stainless MI/MIC line.

The lightweight riveted aluminum body and compact footprint of the MBL series fit easily into dense packaging line diverters, providing fast 30-800 mm/s actuation for small product sorting.
With a 20 um chrome-plated carbon steel rod and two-way grease-retaining seal, the 20-32 mm bore sizes deliver precise 157-804 N force for delicate PCB and component pick-and-place.
The MBLD double-rod variant offers anti-rotation properties ideal for guiding fabric webs in textile machines, while the -S magnet option enables end-of-stroke confirmation via DMSG sensors.
Select the bore based on your load: the 20 mm bore provides 157 N push force at 0.5 MPa, while the 63 mm bore provides 1558 N. Choose the base MBL with fixed rubber bumpers for standard pick-and-place, or step up to the MBLC variant if your load requires adjustable air cushioning at stroke ends. For applications needing anti-rotation or higher load stability, the MBLD double-rod variant is preferred. Confirm these five points before ordering: bore size, required stroke (standard up to 500 mm), port thread type (PT/G/NPT), mounting style (LB foot, FA flange, SDB pivot, or knuckles I/Y/F/U), and whether you need the -S magnet for sensor tracking.
If your application requires a stainless steel body or strict ISO 6432 interchangeability, step out of the MBL series to the AirTAC MI/MIC mini cylinder line. The MBL prioritizes a compact, lightweight aluminum body and does not claim an ISO standard. Note that the fixed rubber bumper on the base MBL only decelerates the piston near stroke end; it does not hold position. If load holding is required when pressure is lost, you must use a separate mechanical lock, rod brake, or pilot check valve.
Quick checklist
The MBL series spans six bores from 20 to 63 mm. At 0.5 MPa, the double-acting push force ranges from 157 N on the 20 mm bore to 1558 N on the 63 mm bore. The maximum theoretical force at 1.0 MPa spans 32 kgf to 318 kgf. Standard strokes reach 500 mm, with special orders up to 800 mm.
The base MBL is double-acting with a fixed rubber bumper. MBLC adds adjustable air cushions for heavier loads. MBLD features a double rod for anti-rotation and stability. MBLJ provides adjustable stroke, and MBLCJ combines both adjustable stroke and adjustable cushions. MSBL and MTBL are single-acting versions.
No. The MBL is a compact aluminum-barrel mini round cylinder with a riveted rolling-packed body designed for small footprint and low weight. It does not claim an ISO standard. If you require an ISO 6432 stainless steel mini cylinder for drop-in interchangeability, use the AirTAC MI or MIC series instead.
No. The MBL is a double-acting air cylinder, meaning it does not hold position without pressure. The fixed rubber bumper on the base MBL only decelerates the piston near the stroke end; it is not a brake or lock. If load holding is required, you must install a separate mechanical lock, rod brake, or pilot check valve.
