About the AirTAC MG20

The AirTAC MG20 is a double-acting stainless-steel mini cylinder with a 20 mm bore and an 8 mm piston rod. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157 N and pulls 132 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 220 N push and 185 N pull. Force depends on bore and pressure only, so every stroke on this page gives the same output.

All MG20 versions share 1/8" air ports, an M8×1.25 rod thread and rubber bumpers at both ends. The cylinder runs on filtered air between 0.15 and 1.0 MPa (proof 1.5 MPa), from -20 to +70 °C, at 30 to 800 mm/s. This page lists 37 stock order codes with strokes from 20 to 800 mm; the catalog maximum stroke is 500 mm, and the longer codes are non-standard strokes we already supply.

Push = pressure × bore area; pull subtracts the Ø8 mm rod area. Usable force is lower because of friction and back-pressure.

Where the MG20 Is Used

Small pushers and stoppers

About 157 N at 0.5 MPa suits light pushers, stoppers, gates and ejectors.

Packaging and assembly

Compact strokes for feeders, diverters and assembly stations.

Sensed positioning

Magnet versions report stroke ends to the PLC through cylinder sensors.

Choosing the Right MG20 Configuration

Start with the stroke. Pick the exact travel your machine needs; a longer stroke adds length, weight and air consumption without adding force. If your length is not listed, request a quote and we will confirm whether it can be built.

Then choose the mounting. Basic (no code) uses the cylinder's own mounting holes. This bore is stocked with LB foot bracket. Foot and flange mountings hold the cylinder rigid for straight-line loads; clevis and trunnion mountings let it pivot when the load moves in an arc.

Finally pick the version: S adds a magnet for position sensors.

AirTAC MG20 FAQ

No. Every MG20 gives about 157 N push and 132 N pull at 0.5 MPa, whatever the stroke.

1/8" ports, PT thread as standard.

Brackets: LB foot bracket. Pick a pivoting cover or bracket when the load moves in an arc, a rigid one for straight-line loads.

Usually yes. Request a quote with the stroke, mounting and version and we will confirm whether it can be built, plus price and lead time.

0.15 to 1.0 MPa operating pressure (proof 1.5 MPa) and -20 to +70 °C on filtered air.

No. You can order a single MG20. Orders are processed and handed to the carrier within 3-5 business days.
