AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC SGC series is a large-bore ISO 15552 tie-rod air cylinder built for heavy-duty automation, spanning 125-250mm bores with up to 24544N push force.
inventory_2843 models availableThe AirTAC SGC series is a double-acting, large-bore tie-rod air cylinder designed for high-force pneumatic applications. It features an aluminum barrel joined to steel front and rear covers by four tie rods. The line covers four bores - 125, 160, 200 and 250mm - with rod diameters from 32mm up to 50mm. Standard strokes extend to 1500mm across all sizes.
At 0.5 MPa, push force spans roughly 6136N on the 125mm bore up to 24544N on the 250mm bore. Theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa reaches 1251kgf to 5006kgf. The series uses adjustable air cushions at both ends to decelerate the piston near the stroke end. Note that this cushion only slows the load; it does not hold position. If load holding is required when pressure is lost, a mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve is needed.
Shared design traits include a two-way piston seal with an oil-reservoir function, 40um air filtration, and an operating pressure range of 0.15-1.0 MPa. Standard temperature is -20 to +70C, or 0-150C with FKM/H high-temperature seals. Port threads are PT or G, scaling from G1/2 on the 125mm bore to G1 on the 250mm bore. Sensors require the -S magnet option and use CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches. Mounting options include LB foot, FA/FB flange, CA/CB clevis, CR, and TC/FTC/TCM1/TCM2 trunnion styles.

Drives heavy-duty clamping and feed mechanisms in metal stamping presses where the 250mm bore delivers up to 24544N push force at 0.5 MPa to move large billets.
Acts as a main push-off cylinder on automated palletizing lines, using the 200mm bore and adjustable air cushions to decelerate heavy pallet loads smoothly.
Operates heavy core-pull mechanisms on large plastic injection molding machines, utilizing the tie-rod construction for high structural stability under 1.0 MPa pressure.
Select the bore size based on your force requirement: the 125mm bore provides about 6136N push force at 0.5 MPa, while the 250mm bore delivers 24544N. Match the port size (G1/2 to G1) and rod diameter (32-50mm) to your flow and load constraints. For applications needing equal force in both directions or anti-rotation, step out of the SGC series to the SGCD double-rod family. For adjustable end-of-stroke positioning, use the SGCJ adjustable stroke variant.
If your application requires smaller bores (32-200mm), consider the AirTAC SAI or SE profile-barrel lines for a more compact footprint. When ordering any SGC cylinder, confirm these five points: 1) bore size (125-250mm), 2) standard stroke (up to 1500mm), 3) port thread type and size (PT or G), 4) mounting style (LB, FA, CA, TC, etc.), and 5) magnet option (-S) if position sensors are needed.
Quick checklist
The SGC series covers four large bores: 125, 160, 200, and 250mm. Rod diameters range from 32mm to 50mm. At 0.5 MPa, push force spans from 6136N on the 125mm bore to 24544N on the 250mm bore. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa spans 1251kgf to 5006kgf. Standard strokes go up to 1500mm.
The SGC is the standard single-rod double-acting cylinder. The SGCD features a double-rod design for equal force in both directions and improved anti-rotation. The SGCJ provides adjustable stroke capabilities for applications requiring specific end-of-stroke positioning without changing the overall cylinder length.
Yes, the SGC is an ISO 15552 (original ISO 6431) standard cylinder. Interchangeability is defined by the ISO mounting-interface dimensions. This means the LB, FA, CA, and TC mounting dimensions match the standard, allowing drop-in replacement for other ISO 15552 cylinders of the same bore size.
No. The adjustable air cushions at both ends only decelerate the piston near the end of the stroke to reduce impact. They do not lock or hold the load. If load holding is required when air pressure is lost, you must use an external mechanical lock, rod brake, or pilot check valve.
