The 4V110-06E-AM is a 4V100-series 5/2-way single-solenoid valve built for switching double-acting cylinders and pneumatic actuators. Energise the coil and air flows to one cylinder port while the other exhausts; cut the signal and the internal spring snaps the spool back, reversing the stroke automatically. This particular SKU carries the factory -AM option: an AMISCO (Italian) solenoid coil fitted in place of the standard AirTAC coil, wired for a 24V AC supply through the built-in terminal box. Size the valve so effective area / Cv is not the bottleneck for your cylinder bore and speed. Undersized valves slow the actuator. Note 5/3 (center) versions have a smaller effective area than the 5/2 of the same body size.

Size check first: at Cv 0.6 this 4V100 body is the correct match for double-acting cylinders in the O16-32 mm band. If your actuator is larger or the cycle needs to be snappier, step up to the 4V200 family (Cv 1.0) rather than overspeeding a 4V110. For the directional logic itself: a single coil with spring return (this valve) is the safe choice when the cylinder must always park in one position on signal loss; a double-solenoid 5/2 (function 20) remembers its last position without holding current; and a 5/3 (function 30x) adds a defined center condition. Single units like this one can also be ganged onto a common base to build an integrated manifold group.
