AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MIC series is a double-acting stainless-steel mini cylinder (16-40 mm bore) with adjustable air cushions at both ends for high-speed, low-shock cycles.
inventory_2893 models availableThe MIC series is the adjustable-air-cushion version of the AirTAC MI round-body mini cylinder. It features a stainless-steel riveted barrel and rod. A needle valve at both ends lets you tune deceleration, smoothing the stroke end at high speed to cut shock and noise. It suits fast cycles or heavier moving masses where a fixed bumper is not enough.
The range spans 5 bores: 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm, with rod diameters from 6 mm up to 16 mm. Ports are 1/8 inch for bores 16-25 and 1/4 inch for bores 32-40 (PT or G thread). The max standard stroke is 500 mm across all bores. Push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 100 N (bore 16) to 628 N (bore 40). Theoretical max force at 1.0 MPa spans about 20 kgf to 128 kgf.
Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (proof 1.5 MPa) with a speed range of 30-800 mm/s and temperature span of -20 to +70 C. Air filtration must be 40 um. Bores 16-25 conform to ISO 6432; bores 32 and 40 are larger, non-ISO round-body sizes. Add the -S magnet option for CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors. Mounting options include LB foot, FA flange, SDB pivot-block and TC trunnion.

Adjustable air cushions absorb end-of-stroke energy on fast cycling diverters, reducing shock and noise without external shock absorbers.
The stainless steel round body resists corrosion in washdown areas, while the 16-25 mm ISO 6432 bores fit tight pitch sorting gates.
Bores 32 and 40 mm deliver up to 628 N push force at 0.5 MPa for clamping heavier parts, fitting into compact machinery footprints.
Choose the bore by load and speed: bore 16-25 handles lighter loads up to about 250 N push at 0.5 MPa, while bore 32-40 suits heavier masses up to 628 N. Pick the MIC over the fixed-bumper MI when the cylinder runs fast, moves a heavier mass, or cycles at high frequency. If you need a double rod, choose MID; for adjustable stroke, choose MIJ or MICJ (adjustable stroke plus cushion). Confirm these 5 points: bore/size, stroke or spec, port/thread, mounting, and magnet -S option.
Step out of the MIC series if you need a lock or brake to hold position - the MIC air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke end and does not hold load when pressure is lost. For load holding, use a mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve. If your machine requires a strict ISO 15552 tie-rod interface or larger bores, select a different AirTAC family.
Quick checklist
The MIC series spans 5 bores: 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm, with a max standard stroke of 500 mm. Push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 100 N for the 16 mm bore up to 628 N for the 40 mm bore. Theoretical max force at 1.0 MPa spans about 20 kgf to 128 kgf.
The MIC has adjustable air cushions at both ends for high-speed deceleration. The MI has a fixed bumper. The MID is a double-rod version. The MIJ offers adjustable stroke, while the MICJ combines both adjustable stroke and adjustable air cushion.
Only bores 16, 20 and 25 mm conform to ISO 6432. The 32 mm and 40 mm bores are larger, non-ISO round-body mini cylinder sizes. Ports are 1/8 inch for 16-25 mm bores and 1/4 inch for 32-40 mm bores, available in PT or G threads.
No. The adjustable air cushion only decelerates the piston near the stroke end to reduce shock and noise. It is not a lock or brake. A double-acting air cylinder does not hold position when pressure is lost. For load holding, a mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve is required.
