AirTAC Pneumatics
AirTAC MA series double acting round-body mini cylinders in 16-40 mm bores with 100-628 N push force at 0.5 MPa, a built-in magnet and fixed bumper pads - a compact actuator for tight machines and light-duty automation.
inventory_2100 models availableThe MA is AirTAC's standard double acting round-body mini cylinder, covering 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm bores. At 0.5 MPa the datasheet push force runs from about 100 N on the 16 mm bore up to about 628 N on the 40 mm bore (86 N to 528 N pull), roughly 20 kgf to 128 kgf of thrust at the full 1.0 MPa rating. Rod diameters scale from 6 mm to 16 mm across the range, and stroke is chosen per model - confirm the standard stroke list from the datasheet.
Every MA shares one construction: a high-precision stainless-steel barrel with aluminium-alloy end covers riveted and rolled onto it, so the sealed body carries no tie rods and no extruded profile. The carbon-steel piston rod carries a 20 um hard-chrome plating, and the piston's two-way seal stores its own grease, so lubrication is not required. Ports scale with the bore: M5x0.8 at 16 mm, 1/8" from 20 mm up. Each cylinder runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa filtered air (40 um filtration), -20 to +70 C, at 30-800 mm/s, and decelerates the stroke ends with fixed bumper pads - a deceleration feature, not a load lock.
A position-sensing magnet is built in as standard on every model, so CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches clip straight on for end-of-stroke feedback. Neighbouring variants retune the same body: the MAC adds a variable air cushion and the larger 50/63 mm bores, MSA and MTA give single-acting spring push or pull, MAD and MACD are double-rod versions, MAJ and MACJ offer adjustable stroke, and MAR builds the cushioned cylinder around an integrated front mounting bracket.

A 16-25 mm MA drives a light gripper or ejector block on an electronics assembly head, where the M5 or 1/8" ports, 30-800 mm/s speed band and CMSG end-of-stroke feedback suit short, fast transfer strokes.
A 32-40 mm MA delivers 402-628 N of push at 0.5 MPa to clamp a small workpiece or eject a finished part from a drill or press fixture, with the built-in magnet confirming clamp made before the cycle advances.
A 25-40 mm MA pushes a stopper or diverter blade across a packaging line conveyor; the fixed bumper pads absorb end-of-stroke impact over the thousands of cycles a shift demands, with no lubrication needed.
The stainless barrel, grease-storing piston seal and no-lubrication operation make the 16-20 mm MA a clean, low-maintenance linear actuator for lab stations and small test rigs running on 0.15-1.0 MPa shop air.
Size the bore to the force your load actually needs at your working pressure: take the 0.5 MPa figures above and plan on roughly 60% of the rating as usable work, stepping up a bore if you are close to the limit. Pick the stroke next, then the thread that matches your shop - blank for PT, G, or T for NPT. The magnet is already inside, so simply add the CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switch when you need position feedback. The five points to lock down before ordering: bore, stroke, port thread, mounting style, and the -S magnet flag (standard on MA) with your sensor type.
Step out of the series when the stroke ends hammer too hard or the load demands more: the MAC is the same cylinder with a variable air cushion and adds 50/63 mm bores for heavier thrust. Choose MSA or MTA for one-way spring-return strokes, MAD or MACD when equal force both directions and anti-rotation matter, MAJ or MACJ when the stroke must be trimmed on the machine, and MAR when you want the mounting bracket built into the cylinder. Drive the MA with an AirTAC 4V or 3V solenoid valve for full control.
Quick checklist
Across the 16-40 mm bore range, datasheet push force at 0.5 MPa runs from about 100 N (16 mm bore) through 157, 245 and 402 N up to about 628 N (40 mm bore). Pull force is slightly lower at 86-528 N. At the 1.0 MPa maximum pressure the 16 mm bore reaches about 20 kgf and the 40 mm bore about 128 kgf. Size the bore planning on roughly 60% of the rating as usable work at your working pressure.
MA is the base double acting cylinder with fixed bumper pads. MAC swaps the pads for a variable air cushion and adds 50/63 mm bores. MSA (push) and MTA (pull) are single acting with a return spring for one-way strokes. MAD and MACD are double-rod versions giving equal force both directions with anti-rotation; MAJ and MACJ offer adjustable stroke; MAR integrates a front mounting bracket into a cushioned body. Match the acting type and cushion to the motion, then keep the same bore across variants.
The MA is AirTAC's own round-body design with a rolled stainless barrel - it is not a tie-rod, extruded-profile or ISO 6432 / JIS cylinder, so specify it by AirTAC code. Within AirTAC, the MAC, MAD, MAJ and MAR variants share the same family architecture, so moving between them keeps bore, port and magnet logic consistent. Confirm mounting and envelope dimensions from the datasheet before replacing any installed cylinder.
AirtacDistr is an authorized export seller of genuine AirTAC parts. Common MA models, for example MA20X100S in standard strokes, are typically in stock for fast shipment; longer or special strokes are quoted by RFQ. The ordering code runs MA{bore}X{stroke} with a thread option (blank for PT, G, or T for NPT), and the magnet is built in as standard, so just add your CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switch to the order.
