About the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1050

The AirTAC SC100X1050 is a double-acting, tie-rod pneumatic cylinder delivering a substantial push force of 3927 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 7068 N at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa. With a 100 mm bore and a 1050 mm stroke, it uses a 25 mm diameter piston rod with M20x1.5 male threads and PT1/2 port connections, making it a robust actuator for demanding linear motion tasks.

The body length A measures 188 mm, resulting in a total extended length of approximately 1238 mm. This model features an adjustable pneumatic cushion (29 mm long) to decelerate the piston smoothly at end-of-stroke, reducing impact and noise. It operates on 40 µm filtered air within a standard temperature range of -20 to +70 °C using TPU/NBR seals.

Where the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1050 Is Used

conveyor_belt

Material Transfer

Pushes heavy pallets or components across a 1050 mm span on roller conveyors, leveraging the 3927 N force at standard plant pressure to move loads reliably.

precision_manufacturing

Press & Clamping

Generates up to 7068 N of clamping force at 0.9 MPa for holding large workpieces during welding, assembly, or machining operations with a long approach stroke.

Bin Diverter

Actuates a diverter gate or chute in bulk handling systems, using the long 1050 mm stroke to redirect product flow between different bins or processing lines.

Is the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1050 the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC100X1050 when your application requires the 3927 N push force at 0.5 MPa that a 100 mm bore provides. If a lower force is acceptable, stepping down to an SC80 bore reduces the push force to 2513 N at the same pressure, potentially saving space and air consumption. For higher force demands, the SC125 bore offers 6136 N at 0.5 MPa.

For this 1050 mm stroke, careful alignment is critical. Long, unsupported strokes with a 25 mm rod are susceptible to bending under side loads. Always use an external guide mechanism or ensure the load is purely axial to prevent rod bearing damage and premature seal wear. To replace an existing cylinder, match the 100 mm bore, 1050 mm stroke, PT1/2 port thread, basic mounting configuration, and the absence of a magnet sensor.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1050 FAQ

At 0.7 MPa operating pressure, the theoretical push force is 5497 N, and the pull force on the retract stroke is 3681 N. The maximum push force at 0.9 MPa is 7068 N.

For a 1050 mm stroke with a 25 mm rod, external guides are strongly recommended if any side load is present. The rod is designed for axial loads; a side load on an unsupported long stroke can bend the rod or damage the front bushing. Use external linear guides or a guided cylinder variant for offset loads.
