About the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1500TC

The AirTAC SC100X1500TC is a double-acting tie-rod cylinder engineered for long linear movements up to 1500 mm. With a 100 mm bore and a robust 25 mm piston rod, it generates a push force of 3927 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 7068 N at 0.9 MPa, making it suitable for demanding automation tasks.

This model features a centre trunnion (TC) mount, supplied with the TCM1 bracket (F-SC100TC), allowing the cylinder to pivot during operation. The body length A is 188 mm, and the adjustable air cushion (29 mm) decelerates the piston smoothly at stroke ends. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa with filtered air, and the standard PT port is 1/2 inch.

precision_manufacturing

Large Component Clamping

Provides the high clamping force needed to secure large weldments or castings in heavy machinery fixtures, with the trunnion mount allowing flexible alignment.

agriculture

Agricultural Equipment Actuation

Operates chutes, gates, or diverters on large harvesting or processing equipment, where the pivoting TC mount accommodates the mechanism's arc of motion.

Is the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1500TC the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC100 when your application requires forces in the 3927 N (push at 0.5 MPa) class. If you need more force, step up to the SC125 bore which provides 6136 N at the same pressure; for a lighter, more compact solution, the SC80 delivers 2513 N. This cylinder is a tie-rod design, shorter than an ISO 15552 profile, so it is not a drop-in replacement for those standards.

For this 1500 mm stroke, side loading is a critical consideration. The long, unsupported 25 mm rod is susceptible to bending under radial forces. Always use an external guide rail or rod support to absorb side loads and protect the rod bearing and seals. To ensure a correct replacement, match five points: 100 mm bore, 1500 mm stroke, PT port thread, TC centre trunnion mounting, and the absence of a magnet.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X1500TC FAQ

At the standard 0.5 MPa operating pressure, the push force is 3927 N and the pull force is 3681 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, the push force increases to 7068 N. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa is 801 kgf.

A stroke of 1500 mm with a 25 mm rod creates a high risk of buckling and side-load damage. You must install an external linear guide or a rod support system to bear any radial loads. The cylinder's rod bearing is designed for axial thrust, not to support the weight of the load or bending moments.
