AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC SCF is a standard SC tie-rod cylinder with a 4M solenoid valve factory-fitted on it, in bores 32-100mm, for decentralised machines where one coil signal drives the cylinder directly.
inventory_2609 models availableThe SCF series is AirTAC's SC tie-rod cylinder with a 4M-series solenoid valve mounted on it at the factory. One coil signal drives the cylinder directly, so there is no separate control valve to install and no manifold station to build for it. Bores run 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm - the whole SCF range, since the larger SC bores have no valve-type variant. The valve fitted is set by the bore: a 4M210 on bores 32, 40 and 50, and a 4M310 on bores 63, 80 and 100.
It is a double-acting cylinder with adjustable pneumatic cushioning, described in the source data as stable and smooth in adjustment. The profiled bidirectional piston seal is compact and retains oil well. As with all SC-family cylinders, the overall length is shorter than an ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore, which is a real space saving once the on-board valve is added. Cylinder ports are PT1/8 on bore 32, PT1/4 on bores 40 and 50, PT3/8 on bores 63 and 80, and PT1/2 on bore 100. Mountings cover basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, LB, TC and TCM1.
Two pressure ranges apply. The cylinder section is rated 0.15-1.0 MPa, but the solenoid valve section is rated 0.15-0.8 MPa, so the assembly works to 0.8 MPa - check your supply against the valve ceiling before sizing. The energised state is also reversible: the factory default is rod retracts when the coil is energised, and you can instead have rod extends by removing the valve, turning it around and refitting it at installation. When refitting, confirm the sealing O-ring between the valve and the connecting block sits in its specified position - a misplaced O-ring is the usual cause of a leak on these.

Pushers and diverters spread across a large machine are the classic SCF job: one coil signal drives each cylinder directly, with no tube runs back to a central valve bank. Bores 63-100 with the 4M310 valve carry the heavier push loads.
A gate cylinder mounted mid-line, far from the control cabinet, suits the on-board 4M valve. Order the S option where a magnetic sensor is wanted for gate-open or gate-closed confirmation - the magnet is an optional suffix on the SCF code.
Bores 32-50 with the 4M210 valve suit fixture clamps fed from a single coil signal. Adjustable pneumatic cushioning, described as stable and smooth, lets the clamp decelerate gently near stroke end; tune it on commissioning, starting from minimum.
Where a lid must move on energising rather than retract, the SCF's reversible valve makes it a setting, not an order decision: turn the valve around at installation and refit it, checking the O-ring between valve and connecting block is correctly seated.
Pick the bore for force and the stroke for travel, and the valve follows automatically from the bore: 4M210 up to bore 50, 4M310 from bore 63. Standard strokes: bore 32 runs 50-500 mm (maximum 1000, allowable 2000); bores 40 and 50 run 50-1000 mm (maximum 1200, allowable 2000); bores 63, 80 and 100 run 75-1000 mm (maximum 1500, allowable 2000). Note that fitting the TC centre trunnion raises the minimum stroke: 100 mm for bores 32, 40 and 50, and 125 mm for bores 63-100. Add S to the code if a position sensor is wanted - the magnet is an option on SCF, not standard - and choose the coil voltage to match your panel: A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. The five points to match before ordering: bore, stroke (with or without TC), mounting style, valve port code (06, 08 or 10, consistent with the fitted valve) and voltage.
Step out of the series when the job calls for a different body: the plain SC series when you install your own valve on a manifold; SAIF for the ISO 15552 body with a built-in valve; SAUF for a compact profile body with a built-in valve; and BSC where a load must be mechanically locked, since a double-acting air cylinder does not hold position when pressure is lost. Flow figures for the built-in 4M210 and 4M310 valves are on the 4M series page - confirm them from the datasheet.
Quick checklist
SCF bores run 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm only - the larger SC bores have no valve-type variant. Standard strokes: bore 32 runs 50-500 mm (maximum 1000, allowable 2000); bores 40 and 50 run 50-1000 mm (maximum 1200, allowable 2000); bores 63, 80 and 100 run 75-1000 mm (maximum 1500, allowable 2000). With the TC centre trunnion the minimum stroke rises to 100 mm on bores 32-50 and 125 mm on bores 63-100, so check that before specifying TC.
The valve is set by the bore, not chosen freely: bores 32, 40 and 50 get a 4M210; bores 63, 80 and 100 get a 4M310. Valve port codes are 06 = 1/8 inch, 08 = 1/4 inch and 10 = 3/8 inch, and the inlet and exhaust ports are not always the same size on a given valve - for example the 4M210-08 has a PT1/4 inlet and a PT1/8 exhaust. Flow data for each valve is on the 4M series page; confirm it from the datasheet.
The factory default is retract on energise. If your machine needs extend on energise, remove the solenoid valve, turn it around and refit it - the choice is made at installation, not at order time. When refitting, make sure the sealing O-ring between the valve and the connecting block sits in its specified position; a misplaced O-ring is the usual cause of a leak on these assemblies.
The cylinder section is rated 0.15-1.0 MPa, but the built-in solenoid valve section is rated 0.15-0.8 MPa, so the complete SCF assembly works to 0.8 MPa - the valve, not the cylinder, is the limit.
