About the Airtac ACED Double-acting Compact Cylinder ACED40X5
A double acting compact actuator built to ISO 21287, the ACED40X5 pushes a 40 mm piston over a short 5 mm stroke and carries a rod through BOTH covers. Because each side works on the rod-side area, output is a matched 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa in either direction - ideal for short eject, clamp or index moves where symmetry matters. The hard-anodized aluminium body with a hard-chrome S45C rod runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixture plates and guard rails. The through-rod resists rotation and light side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-stroke shock. For sizing: 0.6 of the 571.8 N rating leaves roughly 343 N of usable work force, which is about 35 kgf - or plan on lifting roughly 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
