About the Airtac ACED Double-acting Compact Cylinder ACED40X55B
The ACED40X55B is a double acting, double-rod compact cylinder built to the ISO 21287 short-body format. A 12 mm hard-chrome-plated S45C rod exits BOTH covers, so thrust is identical on every stroke: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa, using the rod-side area on both sides. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to your tooling, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-stroke shock.
Because the body is about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, this 40 mm bore drops into tight jigs, guarding and gantries where a full-length body will not fit. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Plan on roughly 343 N (about 35 kg of push) for real work at 0.5 MPa, or size vertical lifts to about 29 kg with a 2:1 margin. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches.
