About the Airtac ACED Double-acting Compact Cylinder ACED40X60
The ACED40X60 is a double acting, double-rod compact cylinder built to ISO 21287: a 40 mm bore with a 12 mm rod exiting both covers, so the output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area on each stroke). At 0.5 MPa it delivers 571.8 N either way, and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it drops into tight jigs, guarding and gantry frames where a full-length body simply will not fit.
The through-rod resists rotation and side load and gives a symmetric mount, and the back-end rod can carry a sensor flag on a pick-and-place arm. A fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-stroke energy. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome-plated rod. In practice, plan on roughly 343 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which is about 29 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
