This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE16X75S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE16X75S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP16X75S is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 75mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE16X75S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting on both strokes, the ACP16X75S is AirTAC's DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and 75 mm stroke, a hard-anodized aluminium body and an S45C hard-chrome piston rod. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guards. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke sensing.
For real-world sizing, plan on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa - roughly a 6 kg horizontal load - and expect it to lift about 5 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston but never holds a load: if the valve centres or air is lost the rod drifts, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve for held positions. Note that the ACP family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACE16X75, and ISO 21287 mounting dimensions should be confirmed before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE16X75S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACE16X75S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×75 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 75 mm stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick rejected components off a conveyor lane, while the fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the retract position every cycle.
With about 60 N of practical clamping force at 0.5 MPa, the 16 mm bore holds small PCBs or connector housings in a functional-test fixture, and the short body fits where a full-length cylinder cannot.
The 75 mm stroke covers the travel needed to fold a flap on a small carton, running 30-500 mm/s, and the compact aluminium body mounts flush against the machine frame.
At 16 mm bore this sits in the light-duty band: if 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); if it is oversized, the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N. The 75 mm stroke is the maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order length is needed. The female M4x0.7 rod thread takes I/Y knuckles directly, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets bolt to the mounting face. Because the -S magnet is fitted here, CMSE / DMSE switches work out of the box. For new builds, order the ACE16X75 instead - this ACP model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; the theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. For sizing, treat about 60 N as the usable push force.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis options. This -S version carries the optional magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted for position feedback. The ACP16X75S itself is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACE16X75 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
