This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE16X90SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE16X90SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP16X90SB is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE16X90SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP16X90SB is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and a made-to-order 90 mm stroke - longer than the 75 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is built to order. It pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa (140.7 N / 105.6 N at 0.7 MPa), with a male rod thread (B code) and an M5x0.8 port. The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod run at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. At 0.5 MPa the push force equals roughly 10 kg of lift; halve that for a 2:1 margin and plan on lifting about 5 kg vertically. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACE16X90 (same bore, stroke and force class); confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to the DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE16X90SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACE16X90SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the 90 mm extend stroke on a small parts diverter, while the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa deflects lightweight plastic components.
About 60 N of practical push force at 0.5 MPa holds PCB assemblies against a locator in a test jig, and the short body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
The male rod thread accepts a custom tuck blade; 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa folds small carton flaps on a packaging line at speeds up to 500 mm/s.
At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if your load needs more, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N) or the 25 mm bore (245.4 N); if less, the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N. Remember a plain cylinder of this type drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets to your fixture, and keep the S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch positions. Buy the ACE16X90 instead: it is the current ISO 21287 successor in the same force class.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard for this bore, so it is made to order.
No - the ACP family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is ACE16X90, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder with the same 16 mm bore, 90 mm stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, because the ACP followed the DIN standard. The ACE keeps the same FA/FB, LB and CA/CB mounting family and the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
