This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE20X120B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE20X120B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X120B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE20X120B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting on both strokes, the ACP20X120B is AirTAC's DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore and a 120 mm male-threaded rod end (B code). At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N, rising to 219.9 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke is longer than the 100 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed range 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and sliding guards. In practice, plan on about 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift roughly 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this unit ships without a magnet: order the -S code if you need CMSE or DMSE switch sensing. The ACP family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACE20X120, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE20X120B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACE20X120B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium brackets in drilling fixtures where the short body must fit inside the jig frame.
With about 8 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, the 120 mm stroke ejects moulded caps from a shallow nest on a packaging line.
On a small assembly station, ordering the -S magnet version allows CMSE or DMSE switches to signal end-of-stroke on a sliding cover.
At this bore size, 157.1 N of push at 0.5 MPa sits between the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) and the 25 mm bore (245.4 N), so step up to 25 mm if your load needs more margin. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 100 mm standard for bore 20 and is built to order. A plain cylinder of this type drifts when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the standard face. Since ACP20X120B is discontinued, order ACE20X120 as the current equivalent and verify the ISO 21287 hole pattern first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa, 219.9 N push and 164.9 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, and moves at 30-500 mm/s. The 120 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 100 mm standard for this bore.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short DIN-standard footprint, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and a male rod thread from the B code. ACP20X120B is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACE20X120 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
