This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE20X15 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE20X15 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X15 is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE20X15 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder in the DIN-standard ACP series, the ACP20X15 pairs a 20 mm bore with a 15 mm stroke and a 10 mm hard-chrome S45C rod. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N, rising to 219.9 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suited tight jig plates and guarded stations. Note that a plain unit drifts when air is removed, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put.
This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACE20X15, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches for position sensing; without -S no magnet is fitted. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-stroke impact, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets bolt to the standard mounting face. Plan on about 94 N (roughly 9.6 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, or about 8 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE20X15 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACE20X15 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The short 15 mm stroke and 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa suit hold-down clamps on electronics assembly fixtures where panel height is limited.
Pushes machined or molded parts off a nest with about 94 N of usable force, fitting inside the narrow body of a rotary indexing dial.
With the optional -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the rod position is confirmed on a vision-check gate inside a compact guard.
For a 15 mm stroke doing light clamping or indexing, the 20 mm bore gives 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa - enough for roughly 9.6 kg of working force after derating. If your load is under about 60 N, the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) saves space; if you need over 200 N, step up to the 25 mm bore (245.4 N push) in the same compact envelope. Choose the -S code only if you will fit CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued, so size the drop-in ACE20X15 for new builds and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 157.1 N and pull 117.8 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 219.9 N and pull to 164.9 N, with a theoretical maximum of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, and the M5x0.8 port is fixed by the 20 mm bore.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is a short ISO 21287-class build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends that only soften end-of-stroke impact. Mounting uses FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets, and the optional -S magnet allows CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACP20X15 is discontinued; the drop-in successor is ACE20X15 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
