This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE25X40SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE25X40SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X40SB is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 40mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE25X40SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP25X40SB is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 25 mm bore and 40 mm stroke, a male rod thread (B code) and the optional -S magnet fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 343.6 N and 288.6 N. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Plan on about 147 N of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 245.4 N rating, and note that the rod lifts roughly 12.5 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. Air runs filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACE25X40, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE25X40SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 245 N | 206 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 344 N | 289 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 50 kgf | |
The ACE25X40SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×40 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
With 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 25 mm bore seats bearings, bushings or terminals into plastic housings on electronics assembly benches where the short body fits under a low gantry.
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches confirm clamp-open and clamp-close on a fixture plate, with the 40 mm stroke clearing the part for manual loading.
Mounted via an FA flange on a carton conveyor, the cylinder pushes boxes between lanes at 30-500 mm/s, lifting about 12.5 kg vertically within a 2:1 margin.
At 25 mm bore this sits mid-range: a 20 mm bore gives 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa, while a 32 mm bore reaches 402.1 N, so step up if your tooling needs more than about 147 N of usable thrust. The 40 mm stroke is well inside the 150 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. Choose the B code male rod thread when your knuckle or fixture bolts onto an external thread, and keep the -S magnet if you need CMSE / DMSE position feedback. A plain cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. Order ACE25X40 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N. At 0.7 MPa push is 343.6 N and pull 288.6 N. The theoretical maximum is 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a double acting cylinder with a 25 mm bore, 40 mm stroke, 10 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports and a male rod thread, rated for 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure.
Order ACE25X40, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same bore, stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP was built to a DIN standard, verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets are available on the ACE family.
