This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED50X10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED50X10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X10S is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED50X10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD50X10S pushes and pulls with identical force because each stroke works on the rod-side area: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction. The 50 mm bore drives a 16 mm through-rod that resists rotation and side load, and the free back-end rod can carry a sensor flag. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the body. The ACPD family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACED50X10.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the rod ends in a female M10x1.5 thread. For planning, treat about 529 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as usable work force, which lifts roughly 44 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 10 mm stroke sits well inside the 250 mm standard range for this bore.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED50X10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 881 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1234 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 180 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The equal 881.2 N force in both directions lets one 50 mm cylinder clamp and release a machined housing with the same grip either way, and the 10 mm stroke fits shallow fixture pockets.
The back-end rod carries a sensor flag while the front rod drives a short gate; with the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm end positions at 30-500 mm/s.
A through-rod slide in an electronics assembly cell uses both rod ends to push trays forward and back with identical 1233.7 N force at 0.7 MPa, no rotation under side load.
At 881.2 N per side at 0.5 MPa, the 50 mm bore suits clamping and reciprocating tasks in the 50-80 kg load class; step down to the 40 mm bore (571.8 N) for lighter jigs or up to the 63 mm bore (1458.1 N) for heavier presses. Remember the piston drifts if air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check where a load must stay put. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the -S magnet on this model enables CMSE / DMSE position switches. Order the ACED50X10 as the current replacement and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
Yes - the double-rod design means both strokes use the rod-side area, so output is equal both ways: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a maximum of 179.7 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Never size this bore from a larger single-rod push figure.
The ISO 21287 short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options on the same face. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be mounted. The ACPD is discontinued - order the ACED50X10 replacement and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
