This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED50X175S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED50X175S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X175S is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 175mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED50X175S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPD50X175S is a double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, so the 50 mm bore delivers an identical 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa (1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa) on every stroke because both faces work on the rod-side area. The 16 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. The -S code on this unit means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke sensing.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs, guarding and gantries. A hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). At 0.5 MPa the 881.2 N rating works out to about 53 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin, so size your tooling weight against that figure. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED50X175, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED50X175S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 881 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1234 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 180 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The through-rod lets a clamp arm ride the front rod while the rear rod drives a position flag, with 881.2 N clamping force identical on approach and retract across the 175 mm stroke.
Equal force both ways makes lane push-and-return predictable for 30-40 kg cartons, and the fitted -S magnet feeds CMSE switches to the PLC at each end.
The 175 mm stroke lifts vacuum tooling of about 53 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin at 0.5 MPa, and the short body fits the low gantry beam where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
For a 175 mm stroke in this force band, 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa suits clamping and transfer tasks up to roughly 50 kg of planned vertical load with margin. Step down to the 40 mm bore (571.8 N) for lighter tooling, or up to the 63 mm bore (1458.1 N) if the part weight or friction grows. Both FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the same face, and the female M10x1.5 rod thread accepts standard I/Y knuckles. Because a plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check for held loads. Order the ACED50X175 as the live replacement and verify the ISO 21287 footprint first.
Replacement checklist
Yes. Because a rod exits both covers, both strokes use the rod-side area of the 50 mm bore: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa, equal push and pull. Peak output at 1.0 MPa is about 179.7 kgf. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 30-500 mm/s, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the piston - it never holds a load, so use a rod lock or pilot check where position must be kept with air off.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow jigs and guarding. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body for stroke sensing. The ACPD family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACED50X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.
