This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED50X20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED50X20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X20B is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED50X20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD50X20B is a DIN-standard compact cylinder that delivers 881.2 N in either direction at 0.5 MPa (1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa), since both strokes work on the rod-side area. The 16 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Its hard-anodized aluminium body is about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
The 50 mm bore gives a practical vertical-lift equivalent of about 90 kg at 0.5 MPa, or roughly 45 kg if you keep a 2:1 margin for a real part weight. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and pressure spans 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACED50X20, so confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED50X20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 881 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1234 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 180 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The through-rod lets a nip or laminating roller mount on both cylinder ends, with 881.2 N applied symmetrically over the 20 mm working stroke.
The short ISO 21287-class body fits inside CNC jig doors where a full-length body cannot, delivering 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa for steel bracket clamps.
With the -S magnet option and a CMSE or DMSE switch, the rear rod carries a flag for end-of-stroke verification on an assembly-line pallet clamp.
At 881.2 N per side, bore 50 sits between bore 40 (571.8 N) and bore 63 (1458.1 N) at 0.5 MPa, so step down for lighter clamping or up for heavier presses. This unit has a male rod thread (B code) and PT ports; if you need position sensing, order the -S variant instead, because without that code no magnet is fitted and no CMSE or DMSE switch can be read. Remember the piston drifts if air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check where a load must stay put. For new builds, specify the ACED50X20.
Replacement checklist
Yes - it is a double-rod cylinder, so both strokes use the rod-side area. At 0.5 MPa you get 881.2 N either way, at 0.7 MPa you get 1233.7 N either way, and the maximum at 1.0 MPa is 179.7 kgf. Never expect a larger push than pull on this model.
Order the ACED50X20, the ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 50 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap because the ACP was built to the DIN standard. FA/FB flange and LB foot brackets bolt to the ACED face.
