This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED50X20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED50X20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X20S is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED50X20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD50X20S pushes with the same 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa in each direction because both strokes work on the rod-side area of the 50 mm bore. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag, while fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the piston at each end. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) of clean, 40 um filtered air.
The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight press fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. At 0.5 MPa, plan on about 528 N (roughly 54 kgf) of usable work, which is a vertical lift of about 45 kg with a 2:1 margin. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACED50X20, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED50X20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 881 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1234 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 180 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 881.2 N bidirectional force and 20 mm stroke suit a short clinching or marking station on an electronics assembly line, where the 16 mm through-rod keeps the tooling square under side load.
Equal force both ways lets one cylinder raise and lower a stopper blade on a packaging conveyor without a spring, cycling at up to 500 mm/s between product batches.
With the fitted -S magnet and CMSE switches, the 45 kg vertical-lift class piston confirms end positions on a rotary indexing fixture inside a guard too shallow for a full-length body.
Size this bore by force: the 40 mm double-rod version gives 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 63 mm raises output to 1458.1 N, both directions equal. If the machine must hold a load with air off, add a rod lock or pilot check - the bumper never brakes the piston. Choose LB foot or FA/FB flange to suit the fixture, and keep the S code if CMSE / DMSE position switches are planned. Since ACPD is discontinued, order ACED50X20 as the current ISO 21287 successor and verify the mounting dimensions against your drawing.
Replacement checklist
Output is equal both ways because the rod-side area works on each stroke: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a maximum of 179.7 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 50 mm bore drives a 16 mm rod through a 20 mm stroke at 30-500 mm/s, on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure.
No - the ACPD family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACED50X20, the ISO 21287 successor with the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ACP was built to the older DIN-standard compact pattern.
