About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X55B
A double acting compact cylinder with a through piston rod, the ACPD50X55B pushes and pulls with the same 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa (1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa) because both strokes work on the rod-side area. The 16 mm rod exits both covers, so the back-end rod can carry a sensor flag or a second tool while the through-rod resists rotation and side load. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs, guards and gantries.
This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACED50X55, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note this unit has no magnet fitted: order the optional -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch detection. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 529 N (about 54 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or expect it to lift about 45 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
