This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED50X90SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED50X90SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD50X90SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 90mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED50X90SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD50X90SB pushes and pulls with identical force because each stroke works on the rod-side area: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The 16 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mounting face, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the speed range is 30-500 mm/s.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287 format, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures. As a planning figure, treat about 529 N (roughly 54 kgf) as the usable output at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 27 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED50X90, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED50X90SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 881 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 1234 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 180 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 50 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The equal 881.2 N force in both directions lets one cylinder clamp and unclamp a machined housing with the same grip pressure, and the through-rod keeps the tool plate from rotating.
A rear rod carries a sensor flag while the front rod pushes cartons across a conveyor at 30-500 mm/s, with the 90 mm stroke clearing the lane inside a short guard.
Both rod ends drive alternating fixtures in a durability tester, so the identical rod-side force keeps stroke timing symmetric cycle after cycle.
At 881.2 N per direction, this 50 mm bore suits clamping and pressing jobs around 500 N of real work at 0.5 MPa. Step down to the 40 mm bore (571.8 N) for lighter jigs or up to the 63 mm bore (1458.1 N) for heavier tooling. The 90 mm stroke sits well inside the 250 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. The B code gives a male M10x1.5 rod thread and the S code carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be fitted for end-position sensing. A plain double-rod cylinder will drift when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check if the load must stay held. Order the ACED50X90 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
Because a rod exits both covers, the force is equal both ways: 881.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 1233.7 N at 0.7 MPa on each stroke, with a maximum of 179.7 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287 format, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and 1/8" ports. The ACPD family is discontinued; the ACED50X90 is the current-production drop-in, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
