This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X100-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X100-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X100-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X100-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ20X100-30 is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore, 100 mm stroke and a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 70-100 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N, rising to 219.9 N on the extend stroke at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding.
Plan on about 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which corresponds to lifting roughly 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speeds run 30-500 mm/s. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ20X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X100-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X100-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 70-100 mm trim range and 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa suit repeatable clamping of aluminium brackets on machining fixtures.
With about 8 kg vertical-lift equivalent and 30-500 mm/s speed, it ejects misaligned cartons from packaging conveyors within a short envelope.
The compact short body fits between conveyor frames where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not reach, deploying pallet stoppers at 219.9 N push at 0.7 MPa.
Size the load both ways: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to the next class adds force headroom for heavier clamping. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a mid-stroke lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches (this code has no S, so no magnet is fitted). Order the ACEJ20X100 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 219.9 N and pulls 164.9 N. Theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and the port is M5x0.8. A practical rule of thumb is about 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa.
The -30 code sets a 30 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 70-100 mm range. It is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ20X100 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.
