This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X100-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X100-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X100-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X100-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ20X100-50SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm travel down by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 20 mm bore pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N, rising to 219.9 N at 0.7 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches make it easy to wire into a PLC-controlled station. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X100.
The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, plan on about 94 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends, speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and pressure runs 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X100-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X100-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 50-100 mm trim range lets one cylinder eject cartons of two heights on a packaging line, with the 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa clearing a loaded case from the flight.
Used as an extend-stroke stop for aluminum housings arriving on a pallet conveyor; the fitted -S magnet feeds a CMSE switch signal back to the PLC at the set position.
Presses sample vials into a holder inside a compact guarding frame, where the short ISO 21287 body and about 8 kg vertical-lift margin match the vial weight with room to spare.
Size by force: if 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to a 25 mm or 32 mm bore; if you only need around 100 N, the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) saves space and air. The 50 mm adjustment window suits stations where one cylinder must serve several product lengths - set the stop once and re-trim on changeover. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate lock if you must hold position. Pair it with FA flange or LB foot mounting and I/Y rod knuckles on the male thread. Before ordering, confirm the ACEJ20X100 replacement matches your ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 219.9 N and pulls 164.9 N; theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code sets a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke by up to 50 mm, so usable travel is 50-100 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The ACPJ20X100-50SB is discontinued. Order the ACEJ20X100, the current ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class - just swap the P for an E in the code. Because the ACPJ follows the DIN-standard compact format, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. FA/FB flanges, LB feet and I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard ISO 21287 face, and the M5x0.8 port position carries over. For sensing, order the -S version so CMSE / DMSE switches can be fitted.
