This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X100-75S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X100-75S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X100-75S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X100-75S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ20X100-75S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -75 stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke down to as little as 25 mm on site, so one unit covers a 25-100 mm working range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 219.9 N and 164.9 N, with a theoretical 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
This 20 mm bore is the largest in the ACPJ family, so it suits heavier clamping and lifting than the 12 or 16 mm sizes. For sizing, a practical rule is to plan on roughly 94 N (about 9.6 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and vertically it lifts about 16 kg at rated force - halve that to 8 kg for a 2:1 margin when matching a real part weight. The S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ20X100, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X100-75S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X100-75S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 25-100 mm adjustable window lets a machinist dial the clamp point on aluminium housings without swapping cylinders, using about 157 N of push at 0.5 MPa.
A short-stroke side pusher that nudges off-spec cartons off a conveyor, with the fitted magnet and a DMSE switch confirming the rod is home between rejects.
Presses vial caps or microplate seals with controlled force up to 219.9 N at 0.7 MPa, inside the compact envelope a benchtop enclosure demands.
Choose this model when your jig needs a trimmable stroke in the 25-100 mm window and about 157 N of push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs less than roughly 100 N, the bore 16 ACPJ (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) is the smaller step; there is no larger ACPJ bore, so the ACEJ family takes over above 20 mm. Mount it on FA/FB flanges or LB feet from the ISO 21287 face, and remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a mid-stroke lock. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ20X100 as the current equivalent and verify the mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 219.9 N and pulls 164.9 N; theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window, so the 100 mm stroke can be shortened anywhere down to 25 mm with the external stop screw. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, at 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
Order the ACEJ20X100, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 20 mm bore, 100 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP was built to a DIN standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. The ACEJ also carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches if you need position sensing.
