This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X110-100SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X110-100SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X110-100SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X110-100SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ20X110-100SB carries a 20 mm bore, a 110 mm made-to-order stroke and a 100 mm adjustment window. An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 10-110 mm range, so one cylinder serves several fixture positions. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 219.9 N and 164.9 N. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight guards and gantries.
Plan on roughly 94 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating) rather than the full 157.1 N, and expect it to lift about 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model fits the magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signals. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and the rod end is male thread (B code) with PT ports. This model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X110, a drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X110-100SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X110-100SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trim the extend stroke from 110 mm down to a part-specific clamp position with the 100 mm window, using about 94 N of usable clamp force at 0.5 MPa on aluminium machining fixtures.
The 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects small cartons or blisters off a conveyor lane, and the short body fits inside the guard where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
With the fitted -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, the 10-110 mm trimmed stroke reports extend and retract positions to the PLC on a small parts-transfer gantry.
Size both ways: if 157.1 N at 0.5 MPa is more than the job needs, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull; if the load needs more, step up to the 25 mm class in the ACE range. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts and a separate holding method is needed for suspended loads. FA/FB flanges, LB feet and I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the face, and the -S magnet on this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds order the ACEJ20X110 instead, and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 219.9 N and pulls 164.9 N; theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code gives a 100 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 110 mm extend stroke anywhere in the 10-110 mm range. The 110 mm stroke is non-standard and made to order. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 10 mm with male thread.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is a short ISO 21287-class design that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ20X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
