This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ20X120-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ20X120-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ20X120-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ20X120-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting ACPJ20X120-100B is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore, a 120 mm made-to-order stroke and a 100 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 20-120 mm range on site. Air works on both faces of the piston, so it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N at 0.5 MPa (219.9 N / 164.9 N at 0.7 MPa). The male-threaded 10 mm rod (the B code) bolts straight to your tooling.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight gantries and guarding. In practice, plan on roughly 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ20X120, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The magnet is not fitted here; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ20X120-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACEJ20X120-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa secures machined aluminium housings in a welding-cell fixture, with the stop screw trimming the approach stroke per part.
A short-body cylinder ejects cartons from a conveyor lane; the 20-120 mm adjustable range handles different pack heights without re-plumbing.
About 8 kg of vertical lift capacity with a 2:1 margin suits pressing dowels into electronics enclosures on a bench-top assembly rig.
At 20 mm bore this sits at the top of the ACPJ range: it delivers 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa where a 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N and a 12 mm bore 56.5 N. Size up to an ACEJ 32 mm bore if you need more than about 220 N at 0.7 MPa. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 100 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is made to order. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve or lock if you must hold a load mid-travel. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the ISO 21287 face. Replacement: ACEJ20X120.
Replacement checklist
Push 157.1 N and pull 117.8 N at 0.5 MPa; push 219.9 N and pull 164.9 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 10 mm with male thread, TPU bumper both ends, and a 100 mm extend-stroke adjustment window. The 120 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 100 mm standard maximum.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm window, giving a usable range of 20-120 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 120 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. This ACPJ is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ20X120 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the older DIN-standard footprint. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code enables CMSE / DMSE switches.
