This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X5 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X5 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X5 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP25X5 is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 10 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. In the 25 mm bore class it delivers 210.1 N of push at 0.5 MPa (308.3 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, and it starts moving from just 0.2 MPa. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-style body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why a 5 mm stroke unit like this slots into ejection and clamping stations where a full-length body simply will not fit. For sizing, treat about 126 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as the practical working force, which lifts roughly 6 kg vertically with margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the rod end is female M6x1.0 with an M5x0.8 air port. No magnet is fitted on this code; order the -S version if you want CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X5 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 210.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 308.3 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 5 mm stroke and 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick filled caps off a chute in food and beverage packaging, and the spring return resets the pin the moment air drops.
Holding small PCB connectors or terminals during solder or test takes only the ~126 N practical working force this bore provides, and the short body fits inside dense fixture plates.
Paired with the optional -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the 5 mm push stroke can verify a machined bushing is seated before the next CNC cycle starts.
Compare by force: the 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 32 mm raises it to 352.5 N, so pick 25 mm only if your clamp or eject load sits between those figures. Remember the spring pulls the rod home on air loss, so this cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mounting options are FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and sensing requires the optional -S magnet with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ASE25X5 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this DIN-standard unit has different hole patterns.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting push cylinder, spring return. Push force is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the air must be filtered to 40 um. It needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring.
The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it suits tight jigs and guard-mounted stations. Sensing is not included on this code: the magnet is the optional -S order code, which allows CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches. Note the ASP25X5 is discontinued; the ASE25X5 is the current drop-in successor, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.
