This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X5B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X5B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X5B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP25X5B is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 10 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the unit rests retracted when pressure drops. This 25 mm bore delivers 210.1 N of push at 0.5 MPa (308.3 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, with a short 5 mm stroke and a male rod thread (the B code). It needs just 0.2 MPa minimum to overcome the spring, across a 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) operating band.
The compact hard-anodized aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight clamping fixtures where a full-length body cannot. For sizing, treat roughly 126 N (about 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as the usable push, which lifts about 10 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE25X5, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X5B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 210.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 308.3 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects finished small bearings off a press mandrel in one 5 mm kick, with the spring pulling the platen back instantly for the next part.
A single air line clamps circuit boards into a wave-soldering jig; on air loss the spring releases the board, and the 5 mm stroke keeps the fixture lid thin.
Mounted under a packaging conveyor, the short body kicks folded flaps into place at up to 500 mm/s, retracting automatically between cartons.
At 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 25 mm bore sits between the 20 mm bore (127.4 N) and the 32 mm bore (352.5 N); step down for lighter spring-loaded clamps or up for heavier forming dies. The 5 mm stroke suits short ejection or confirm-position jobs, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts directly to I/Y knuckles. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant to enable the optional magnet with CMSE / DMSE switches - this B-only code carries no magnet. Replacement: ASP25X5B is discontinued and the ASE25X5 is the current drop-in; verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
This single acting push cylinder gives 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa (needed to beat the spring), the band is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed range is 50-500 mm/s, and the M5x0.8 port takes filtered air to 40 um.
It is a compact spring-return cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, male rod thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends that decelerate the rod at each end of travel. The ASP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
