This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X20 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it, so the ASP63X20 needs only one air line and rests normally retracted. At 0.5 MPa the 63 mm bore delivers 1420.5 N of push already net of the return spring (2044 N at 0.7 MPa), and it starts working from just 0.2 MPa. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE63X20, which swaps the P for an E in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight clamping fixtures and guarded stations. Plan on roughly 852 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without -S no magnet is fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small bushings into housings on a short 20 mm stroke, with the spring clearing the ram between cycles.
A single air line clamps aluminium brackets against a hard stop; the short body fits inside the jig where a full-length cylinder will not.
Holds folded flaps down for a taping head, retracting automatically whenever air pressure drops below 0.2 MPa.
For a 20 mm push stroke in this force band, 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa suits medium clamping and eject duties; step down to the 50 mm bore (875.5 N) for lighter parts or up to the 80 mm bore (2316.2 N) when the load grows. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Order the -S code if CMSE / DMSE sensing is needed, and match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets to your fixture. Before swapping to the ASE63X20, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your drawing.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder: push is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the 16 mm rod ends in a female M10x1.5 thread with a 1/8" port.
The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow pockets and guarded stations. On air loss the return spring drives the rod back to its retracted home position; it does not hold a mid-stroke position. The ASP63X20 is discontinued - order the ASE63X20 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
