This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X20SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP63X20SB extends its 16 mm rod on air and retracts on the built-in spring, so one air line is all the plumbing it needs. At 0.5 MPa this 63 mm bore delivers 1420.5 N of push net of the spring (2044 N at 0.7 MPa), and it needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The male rod thread (B code) and the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches are both built into this code. Note that the ASP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE63X20 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs, guards and gantries. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends to soften end-of-travel contact. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 852 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting about 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping in the ASE63X20.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small bushings in a 20 mm working stroke, with the spring clearing the ram between cycles.
Air extends to clamp a steel bracket; if the line drops, the spring retracts and releases the part instead of trapping it under load.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE switch confirms the gate is fully extended at up to 500 mm/s before the filler head is allowed to cycle.
Size the bore to the load: if 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the 50 mm bore gives 875.5 N at the same pressure; if you need more, the 80 mm bore reaches 2316.2 N. Remember the spring returns the rod to its retracted home position on air loss - it does not hold a mid-stroke position. This code carries the male rod thread and the -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches mount directly. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets bolt to the standard face. Order the ASE63X20 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 footprint first.
Replacement checklist
Push is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 50-500 mm/s, and air filtered to 40 um. It is single acting: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it, so on air loss the rod returns to its retracted home position rather than holding mid-stroke.
No - the ASP63X20SB is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ASE63X20, which keeps the same 63 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class in the short ISO 21287 body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your existing fixture, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact format.
